Murud, the perfect place to unwind after a hectic week. Everything about this place is picture perfect, the unspoiled and beautiful beaches, huge stretches of coconut and palm groves, and a fascinating fort. The three centuries - old fort of Janjira, once considered impregnable, is a marvelous piece of architecture. Murud has a lot of beach resorts amidst the coconut plantations. Delicious, fresh seafood includes the likes of Pomfret, Kingfisher (Surmai) and Prawns straight from the Arabian Sea. You can also enjoy pure vegetarian, home-made Konkani cuisine at some of the houses nearby. The beach itself with its soft sand and wide expanses is well suited for walking, jogging or simply freaking out. You will probably be able to watch the white bellied sea eagle, white backed vultures and sea gulls and if you lucky enough will be seeing dolphins as well. Olive Ridley sea turtles are also spotted here. The phansad wildlife santuary, with thick jungle also shelters, partners, deer, bear, jackals and wildcats. During the rainy season there are places like Garambi water falls to enjoy.

In this tropical paradise, you would love to get lost to civilization and instead bum round the beaches, collect sea shells, watch the sunset and may be listen to yarns from local fisher folk. In this small town by the sea there are no blaring horns, no jostling crowds, no fancy restaurant, no meeting deadlines. Life is slow-paced and you can breakfast leisurely on fruits freshly picked, lunch on fish just caught and dine by the light of the moon. In this dream place, imagine a dream house of your own.come to fall in love!

Murud is beautiful.. Unfortunately Maharashtra’s beaches are not as famous as the ones in Goa. Maharashtra has a long coastline with hundreds of beaches.. These beaches are unspoilt and you can claim one of them to be your own, till an occasional tourist shakes you into reality..

And this is Shiroda, in southern Maharashtra... The authorities must keep the famous beaches clean.. The ones which are not photographed yet are the ones which are the most beautiful
